SPRINGFIELD, MO. – [
BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist men's basketball shot 53.8% from three-point range in an 87-65 win over Evangel University (Mo.) on Saturday afternoon. The victory improved the Spartans record to 3-0.
MBU trailed 8-5 early in the first half before a three-pointer from senior
Kai Woodfall gave the visitors a lead they wouldn't relinquish. A 14-3 run spotted the Spartans a 19-11 lead and they would continue to build that advantage before heading in for halftime at 44-29.
Missouri Baptist kept their foot on the gas in the second half, knocking down three consecutive three-pointers to effectively put the game out of reach. They would go on to make 10-16 3PT FGs attempted in the last 20 minutes. Woodfall was the catalyst, burying 6-8 from behind the arc in route to 22 points.
Three other Spartans reached double digits in the lopsided victory.
Jesus Castillo racked up 13 points (3-5 3PT FG).
James McKelvin added 12 points while
Jahmouri Robinson contributed 10.
Missouri Baptist will next travel to Jonesboro, Ark. on Monday for an exhibition against NCAA DI Arkansas State. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 pm. The Spartans begin conference play next Thursday, November 15, away to College of Pharmacy.
