SPARTANS GAIN SECOND SWEEP IN SIOUX CITY

SIOUX CITY, IOWA—Women's Volleyball resumed National Championship pool play on Wednesday morning. They continued their winning ways, claiming their second sweep of the week, this time over the Braves of Ottawa University (Kan.).

The teams went point for point early on in set one. Tied at 6-6, Coach Chris Nichols called his first timeout. The early break played to the Spartans advantage, as they regained possession and rolled to an eight-point lead. From there, MBU maintained a hefty lead. They went on to take set one, 25-18.

The second set nearly mirrored the first, as the teams went back and forth, once again. Coach Nichols called another timeout with the score at 12 apiece, prompting another run for the Spartans. They'd take set two, 25-18.

Set three was a close matchup, as the Braves hoped to push the Spartans to a fourth set for the second time this season. MBU found themselves at game point (24-22), but a kill from Ottawa, followed by a Spartan error tied things up at 24. Maggie Sorensen answered back with a kill, putting Missouri Baptist at game point, once again. They'd go on to take set three, 26-24.

The Spartans had an impressive performance all around the court today. "When we pass well, we play a lot better overall," said outside hitter Mallory Moran. "We were nailing passes today, and any time our opponent got on a scoring run we kept reminding each other 'together, together.'"

Moran led the match in the kills category with a total of 14, while Caterina Cigarini, Maggie Sorensen and Ana Oliveira each tacked on nine.

Libero Rachel Luebbers racked up a personal season-high 24 digs. Setter Megan Huffman clocked out at 35 total assists.

With this victory, Chris Nichols earns his 200th career win as head coach, and the Spartans will automatically advance to the round of 16 on Friday. They close out pool play on Thursday against Hastings College (Neb.) at 12 p.m.
