LYNX OFFENSE OVERPOWERS SPARTANS

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] The Spartans suffered a tough 94-68 defeat to No. 25 Lindenwood-Belleville on Saturday.  Missouri Baptist was within striking distance after the first half, but the mighty Lynx offense pulled away in the next two quarters.

Lindenwood came ready to play in the first quarter shooting 63.2 percent from the field, scoring 30 points. Senior Briya Wilborn did her best to keep the Spartans close posting eight points. The second quarter was a different story. Missouri Baptist fought back strong, holding the Lynx to just 11 points. It was a 41-37 ballgame at halftime.

A revitalized Lynx team came out after the break to shoot 70 percent from the field. The 31 point quarter would give them a commanding 72-51 lead heading into the fourth and they never looked back. Lindenwood-Belleville, on the back of their offense, would go on to defeat Missouri Baptist 94-68.

It was not all bad news as sophomore center Megan Fassino had herself a day. She pulled down nine rebounds, blocked three shots, and scored 13 points. Senior Amanda Rowden impressed as well, putting up 16 points and five assists.

Next on the schedule are the No.1 ranked Lions of Freed-Hardeman University. Tip-off is scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. in Henderson, Tennessee.
