Game Recap: Men's Volleyball | | Karlye Jones

NO. 2 SPARTANS SWEEP NO. 5 WILDCATS

ST. LOUIS—Men's Volleyball was back in action tonight, this time facing the No. 5 Wildcats of Culver-Stockton. In the highly anticipated match, the Spartans claimed their sixth sweep and eighth win.
The first set began as most expected, with a game of back and forth. The game was tied at nine when Cameron Hibbler started a Spartan run with a kill. However, a strategic timeout from Culver-Stockton would cause the middle blocker to serve out, and give the Wildcats possession. The game of back and forth continued, but the Spartans managed to stay on top the rest of the way. They would take set one, 25-17.
After a tough start, the Wildcats entered the second set seemingly low on gas, as the Spartans quickly took a big lead. MBU played hard all around, allowing them to take set two with ease, 25-15.
The tables turned in set three, as MBU seemed to be low on momentum. Culver-Stockton quickly picked up on that and used it in an attempt to take the match to a fourth set. However, it was to no avail. The Wildcats and Spartans battled it out, but CSC's errors would ultimately allow MBU to take the match, 25-19.
Sophomore Luka Cajic led the match with a total of 11 kills and three blocks, putting up 13.5 points for the Spartans. Steven Rodriguez and Jack Huizinga trailed close behind with nine and six kills, respectively. Hibbler also posted three blocks.
Libero Colton Inman handled things in the back with a total of seven digs and setter Kyle Foley posted 29 assists.
The Spartans are back in action Tuesday, February 6. They take on Ottawa at 6 pm.
