ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Men's Tennis opened a new season on Saturday night against Maryville University. The Spartans were defeated by a 6-3 final.
The Spartans went 1-2 in the doubles competition. Dylan Walker and Lucas Lobao picked up a victory from the number two position, winning 9-7 over Fernando Orea and Bodin Aleksic.
In the singles, Lobao stayed undefeated for the day with a 6-4, 1-6 (retired) win over Juan Segura. Ricardo Martin also claimed a victory by retirement (6-3, 2-0) against Fernando Orea.
"We probably could've won all three doubles matches…," said Head Coach Cole Stevenson. "…but this was a good match for everyone to get a tune up before our Florida trip."
The Spartans will take on Keiser, Southeastern, and Warner University in Florida over spring break (March 10-13).
