SPARTANS FALL TO (1) EAGLES BY FOUR

ST. LOUIS, Mo.—The No. 7 ranked Spartans took on the No. 1 ranked Eagles of Reinhardt University on Monday. It was a tough battle, but MBU could not keep up with Reinhardt, falling by four goals.

The match started off on a promising note, as the Spartans had possession for most of the first five minutes. Austin Dahl quickly fired two goals past Reinhardt, putting MBU ahead, 2-0. However, the lead over the top team was short-lived, as Reinhardt tied things up just moments later. Alex Todd managed to put one past RU's keeper, putting the Spartans ahead by one heading into the second quarter.

Reinhardt gained possession at the start of the second, and it stayed that way for most of the quarter. The Eagles scored four goals before the half, while the Spartans remained scoreless. MBU faced a three-point deficit at halftime.

MoBap looked to make a comeback, as Dahl quickly put up another goal (6-4). However, it seemed Reinhardt was always one step ahead, as they responded shortly after with two more (8-4). Andy Coulter managed one more goal for MBU before the start of the final period (8-5).

It was do-or-die in the fourth, as MBU once again tried for a comeback. However, Spartan errors did not allow them to maintain possession. Jaxon Haas scored one more for MBU, but it was unfortunately not enough. The Spartans fell to the No. 1 Eagles, 10-6.

Senior Austin Dahl led the way for MBU with a total of three goals and four successful face-offs. Devin Mayer scooped up five ground balls and made one assist. Robert Ates finished the day with a total of 19 saves.

The Spartans are back in action on Saturday, April 7. They will host Columbia College for the first time in history. Game time is set for 1 pm.
