ST. LOUIS- [BOX SCORE] MBU Baseball entered Friday afternoon's matchup with Lindenwood-Belleville on the brink of a three-game sweep. The prospects were looking good at about 2:30 pm as the Spartans entered the ninth inning with a six-run lead. Nearly an hour later, however, the mood had changed considerably. The Lynx exploded for 12 runs to send the home side spiraling to an 18-13 defeat.

As they did on Thursday, MBU jumped out to an early lead. After three in the first and two more in the second, the Spartans had a 5-2 lead. Lindenwood-Belleville tied it in the fifth but Tyler Schmidt and Roosevelt Henderson homered in the bottom half to retake the lead.

The home side then led 11-4 after six. Drew Brooks doubled home a run and Mason Washington followed with a single that plated two more. It was 12-6 going into the ninth and that's when the wheels fell off.

The Lynx nearly batted around three times before Missouri Baptist could record the third out. The visitors scored 12 runs on 10 hits while the Spartans helped out with three errors.

The deficit was too steep at that point and LU-Belleville held on in the bottom half for an 18-13 win.

The Spartans fall to 21-14 with the loss (13-6 AMC). They'll return to action next Friday against Harris-Stowe. First pitch is set for 1 pm.
