ST. LOUIS— Missouri Baptist Men's Soccer played to a 0-0 draw with Culver-Stockton on Saturday at Spartan Field.
In a game where fouls and cards surpassed scoring chances and saves, neither side could find a breakthrough after 90 minutes of regulation and two 10 minute overtime periods.
The final shot on goal count was 6-4 in favor of the Wildcats. MBU keeper
Davide Bucarelli provided the biggest play of the day with a save off the goal line late in the second half to keep the match scoreless. The Italian earned 'Man of the Match' recognition for the effort.
"Davide came up with a huge save to maintain the draw," noted Head Coach
Jake Alvernia. "He was strong in the air and used some great decision making today."
Alvernia also felt the draw was a justified result for the effort both teams put in.
"Overall I thought our boys put in a solid performance. It probably would have been unfortunate if either team lost today," Alvernia commented. "I thought a draw was justified based on the two sides fighting for it."
The Spartans (3-2-1) will kick off AMC play on Tuesday against William Woods. Start time will be 7 pm in Fulton, Mo.
