Each side continued exchanging kills with the Spartans staying just a step ahead. They'd go on to take set one, 25-21.

Set two followed suit, as Missouri Baptist maintained a slight lead throughout the majority. However, a kill from MMU's  Armenado , followed by another from Stoimenov tied things up at 17 each. With his team at game point (24-23), Coach Tom Young utilized his first timeout of the match. After the break, a kill from Iliff would seal the deal, giving MBU set two, 25-23.

The third set began like the others, however, MBU eventually gained some needed momentum. They'd go on a run, granting themselves a comfortable lead (13-7), before Mount Mercy called for a timeout.
