SPARTANS MAKE IT TWO IN A ROW WITH WIN OVER EUTECTICS

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Don't call it a streak just yet, but Missouri Baptist Women's Basketball looked like a team to be reckoned with the in the American Midwest Conference on Thursday. Led by a solid 18 points from senior Taylor Klingelhoefer, the Spartans took care of business against St. Louis College of Pharmacy (Mo.) in a 77-42 win at home.

Missouri Baptist (5-7, 4-5 AMC) pushed the pace of play from start to finish as the team cruised to its fifth win of the season, and second of 2016.

Klingelhoefer, the senior and graduate of O'Fallon Township High School in O'Fallon, Ill., knocked-down the first three points of the game and showed early that she was on. Her 18 points on Thursday was a season high as her pursuit for 1,000 career points continues. The shooting guard now sits at 983 points for her career.

The Spartans held the Eutectics to single digits in the first two quarters and played solid defense for the entirety of Thursday night's contest. MBU forced 16 Eutectic turnovers on the night en route to its fourth AMC win.

Missouri Baptist season leading scorer Jerica Hawkins posted 11 points in the game, as did Sam Smith. Smith, the senior from Wentzville, Mo., had her best night as a Spartan to date, and her first game in double digits.

Jasmine Jackson, the senior from Berkley, Ill., also had her best night of the season. She finished with 10 points and rounded-out the Spartans in double figures.

The Eutectics were led by Morgan Dermody and Emi Santhuff on the night. The duo posted 12 points apiece.

Trina Valencia, the junior from Hawaii, put together a career night in the assist category. She distributed seven on the night, which easily surpassed her previous high of four against Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on Nov. 22, 2013.

Missouri Baptist will have a short road trip ahead of them this weekend, as the team will travel just down the road to Harris-Stowe (Mo.), on Saturday to take-on the Hornets. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
