HANNIBAL, Mo. – The Missouri Baptist University men's wrestling team picked up its first win of 2019-20 defeating American Midwest Conference (AMC) opponent Hannibal-LaGrange on the road, 30-17.
Due to injuries on the Trojans' roster, the Spartans benefitted from a trio of wins by forfeit at the 149, 165 and 184 weight classes.
After falling behind in 9-0 in the earlygoing, redshirt-freshman
Jordon Sanders got the Spartans on the board by pinning HLGU's Mark Donaldson in the second period (4:13).
Bryce Bachowski's win by forfeit at 149 pounds gave Missouri Baptist the lead for good and was followed by
Steven Weathers' 11-4 decision over Gage Maxwell and
Caleb Covert's win by forfeit.
The Spartans withstood a major decision and tech fall at the 174 and 197 weight divisions and capped off the evening with a close 3-2 decision in favor of 2018-19 NAIA National qualifier

Up next for the MBU men's wrestling program is a trip to the Coe College Invite on Saturday, November 23. The Spartans' first dual at home is set for the Tuesday before Thanksgiving when they host the NAIA's No. 3-ranked team in Marian University (Ind.).
