SPARTANS LAND SEVEN ALL-CONFERENCE AWARDS

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – For the first time in program history, Missouri Baptist football has First Team All-Conference recipients. Isaiah King, Anthony Taele, and Jaylen Cowley were all selected to the MSFA All-Midwest League First Team in their respective positions. Michael Malone nabbed two places on the second team as a kick returner and as a defensive back and Donovan Baldwin, Joey Morones, and K.J. Satcher were selected as MSFA Midwest Honorable Mentions.

King had a career year in 2019, setting highs with 51 receptions, 1,011 yards, and 91.9 yards per game. His nine touchdowns fell just short of his career-high of 11 set during his freshman year. This is King's second All-Conference yearly award and first since he was named to the All-MSFA Second Team in 2016. The senior ended his tenure with the Spartans as the all-time leader in receptions (166), receiving yards (3,199), and touchdowns (31).

At tight end, Taele was a force for the Spartans averaging 51.8 receiving yards per game while reeling in a career-high 40 passes, 818 yards, and two touchdowns. In addition to First Team selections, Taele and King will be heading down to Savannah, Georgia to participate in the NAIA Senior Classic on December 14.

Jaylen Cowley rounds out the list of Spartans on the First Team. Cowley patrolled the secondary with authority all season, forcing teams to find another option. When he was targeted, Cowley made the most of it with 25 solo tackles, 44 total tackles, three tackles for a loss, one pass breakup, a solo sack, and a forced fumble.

Malone was the lone Spartan on the 2019 All-Midwest League Second Team, receiving the award for defensive back and kick returner. On defense, the Memphis, Tennessee native was a part of the MBU secondary that ranked fifth in yards against per game, collecting 11 solo tackles, 28 total tackles, one tackle for a loss, and one interception. As a kick returner, the junior was ranked fourth in the NAIA in return yards per attempt (28.1 yards) and returned the first-ever kickoff for a touchdown against Midland on September 28.

Donovan Baldwin, Joey Morones, and K.J. Satcher were the last MBU representatives on the All-Conference awards list as all three of them earned a spot as Honorable Mentions. Baldwin led the team in sacks with 3.5 while also collecting 52 tackles and 10.5 tackles for a loss. Morones paced the Spartans in tackles with 94, good for third in the MSFA Midwest. Lastly, K.J. Satcher was an instrumental part of the ground attack, anchoring the MBU offensive line.
