HENDERSON, TENN. — [
BOX SCORE] MBU Women's Basketball ran into a buzz saw with an 85-46 defeat to (2) Freed-Hardeman on Saturday afternoon.
Missouri Baptist hung tough in the opening quarter. After taking an early lead, they trailed just 17-14 after 10 minutes. But the Spartans bugaboo all season has been lengthy scoring droughts and that proved to be the issue again in a dry second quarter. Freed-Hardeman scored the first 17 points of the frame before a three-pointer from
Izzy Farrell finally ended the streak. The home side won the second quarter 22-7 and held a 39-21 advantage at the break.
The Lady Lions didn't let up after halftime either. Junior forward Haylee Croom was, more or less, unstoppable for FHU in the paint. Croom made 11 of her 15 field goal attempts to tie a career-high with 31 points.
Freed-Hardeman led by as many as 40 in the fourth quarter before settling for the 39-point victory.
Alissa Rowden was the lone Spartan to reach double figures. The senior had 13 points to go along with three rebounds.
Missouri Baptist returns to the Petty SRC next Thursday for senior night. They'll do battle with No. 1 Columbia College with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 pm. A limited amount of white t-shirts will be handed out before the game for 'Pack the Petty' night.
