SPARTANS CRUISE PAST BEES IN THREE

ST. LOUIS—Men's volleyball made their way to Davenport, Iowa for another matchup against the (RV) St. Ambrose University Fighting Bees. Despite no home court advantage, the Spartans managed to come out on top once again, this time in just three sets.

The Spartans rolled out to a quick lead thanks to two kills from Steven Rodriguez and two service aces from Luka Cajic (4-1). Spartan errors were the only thing keeping them from running away with the lead early on. Missouri Baptist led by four (13-9) when St. Ambrose called for their first timeout. At 17-14, errors began to plague the Bees, allowing MBU to push their lead even further. A kill from Miljan Kastratovic finally sealed the deal, granting the Spartans set one, 25-19.

The Bees found their rhythm heading into set two, as the teams went point for point throughout. At 18-18  a SAU service error gave the Spartans their last lead of the set. They'd take the second, 25-21.

The third set was another close one in the early going, however, the Spartans eventually began to pull away. Missouri Baptist led by four when St. Ambrose utilized another timeout. Out of the break, Jack Huizinga answered back with two quick service aces (14-8). From there, the Spartans maintained a comfortable lead. A kill from Rodriguez followed by an ace from Kastratovic would give MBU their 10th sweep of the season.

Luka Cajic and Miljan Kastratovic led the match in the kills' category with a total of 11 each. Steven Rodriguez finished up just behind the duo with nine total kills.

Setter Jason Harman put up 25 assists, and libero Skyler Capllonch rounded out the evening with 10 digs.

The Spartans round out their time in Iowa on Saturday, March 2. They'll head to Dubuque to take on (RV) Clarke University at 11 a.m.
