NO. 2-RANKED REINHARDT TOO MUCH TO HANDLE FOR SPARTANS

WALESKA, Ga. – The Missouri Baptist University men's lacrosse team wrapped up its two-game roadtrip in Georgia on Saturday with a lopsided loss to No. 2-ranked Reinhardt University. Prior to Saturday's contest, the Eagles were averaging 18.2 goals per game and an average margin of victory of +14.7, and the Top-5 team stayed on course with an 18-2 win.

Missouri Baptist dropped to 2-7 on the year, while Reinhardt has won eight in a row and improved to 8-1 overall.

It took the Spartans 49 minutes to score their first goal and by that time, it was too little, too late. Prior to Sean Hess' goal at the 10:59 mark in the fourth quarter, Reinhardt held a commanding 16-0 lead. Andy Coulter was the other Spartan to score as the senior from Wildwood, Mo., recorded goal No. 10 on the season. He ranks second on the team in goals, just behind Josh Zion, who has 12.

Reinhardt's steady attack was too much for first-year starter at goalie Hunter Filla and the MBU defense. In particular, the Eagles' Gavin Banks gave the Spartans the most trouble this afternoon as he amassed eight goals. RU had three other players who scored at least two goals in the contest.

One area of the MBU's game that took a significant hit compared to recent contests was faceoffs. Sophomore Noah Campbell entered the game with an impressive 0.691 faceoff winning percentage, which ranked fourth among the NAIA's top faceoff specialists. As a team, MBU was just 5 of 24 on faceoffs.

The Spartans will have another tough test in front of them this upcoming Friday when they play host to No. 5- ranked University of the Cumberlands at home on Spartan Field (5 p.m.)
