ST. LOUS—Women's lacrosse finished up their 2019 season on Saturday afternoon, hosting the University of Saint Mary (Kan.) for Senior Day. After a tough battle, MBU ultimately fell, 8-9.
The Spires kicked off the scoring, putting one past the Spartan defense five minutes into the first half. A few minutes later, however, a foul would grant
Audrey Frost a free position shot, allowing her to put MBU on the board (1-1). Saint Mary would score three more before freshman
Jordan Haeusser scored another for the Spartans. They'd eventually head into the half, trailing by two (4-6).
Saint Mary started off hot, yet again, as a Spartan turnover would allow them to score the first goal of the second half. MBU would outscore the Spires in the second, but it was not enough to even out the score. USM slid past the Spartans to take the win, 8-9.
Sameera Hammad and
Audrey Frost each scored three for the Spartans. Hammad also scooped up three ground balls, and caused two turnovers, while goalie
Kaitlin Mills tabbed 12 total saves.
Upon the completion of this contest, the Spartans finish the regular season with a record of 5-6.
