INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The search for the first win of 2019 will go on for Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer. The (RV) Marian University Knights (7-0) topped the Spartans 3-0 on Saturday afternoon in Indianapolis.
Marian took the early lead, scoring in just the fourth minute, and never looked back in a dominant performance. They double the advantage in the 17
th minute and officially put it out of reach in the 36
th. The Spartans were held without a shot attempt in the opening 45 minutes.
On brighter note, the Knights were held off the board for the entirety of the second half. MBU keeper
Jemica Artillaga finished the day with six saves. Freshman
Hanna Harrison came on for the last 16 minutes and made two saves in her collegiate debut. Offensively, the Spartans rarely threatened the MU goal. The final shot count was 24-2 with just one attempt on target for the visitors.
Missouri Baptist (0-5) will now return home for a Thursday meeting with Bethel University (Tenn.). The match will be played at Maryville University with kickoff scheduled for 5 pm. The Spartans will play the rest of their September games in St. Louis, including a road game on the 17
th at Harris-Stowe.
