ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Mid-States Football Association had a record number of MSFA All-Academic team nominations for the 2019 season that included 12 student-athletes from Missouri Baptist.
Of the 226 football players on this list, just four of them had a 4.00 GPA. The Spartans had two players fall just short of this mark, as junior
Zack Kern recorded a 3.97 (Sport Management) and sophomore
DeMario Phelps collecting a 3.93 (Pre-Nursing).
The other MBU student-athletes on the list were sophomore
Ryan Brueggemann (Sport Management, 3.75), junior
K.J. Satcher (Biology, 3.71), junior
Colton Potter (Nursing, 3.68), sophomore
Connor Breckenkamp (Sport Management, 3.60), sophomore
Evan Lowry (Exercise Science, 3.58), senior
Kendell Davis (Criminal Justice, 3.50), junior
Chris Lang (Business Administration, 3.37), junior
Kenyon Perkins (Biochemistry, 3.36), sophomore
Thomas Smith (Biology, 3.35), and junior
Tyreece Shores (Human Services, 3.35).
This is Davis' third MSFA All-Academic team selection of his career. Kern, Satcher, Lang, and Perkins have all been selected twice in their career.
