SPARTANS FINISH REGULAR SEASON IN STYLE

ST. LOUIS—Missouri Baptist Men's Basketball (15-13, 11-11 AMC) celebrated senior day on Saturday with an 86-44 victory over Hannibal-LaGrange. The Spartans will play Central Baptist College (20-8, 16-6 AMC) in the first round of the AMC Tournament on Wednesday in Conway, Ark.

James McKelvin started the scoring with a long three 16 seconds in the first half and the Spartans never looked back. MBU never trailed and led by double digits for most of the first half.

The second half, however, was where the home side really broke it open. The Spartans clamped down defensively and held the Trojans to just seven made field goals on 32 attempts in the final 20 minutes. Hannibal was 0-13 from the behind the three-point line in the second half.

Missouri Baptist used all 11 available players (and all 11 scored at least two points) but it was the seniors who led the way in their final game at the Petty SRC. Jahmouri Robinson posted 18 points on 8-14 from the field and James McKelvin double-doubled for the fourth time this season with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Robinson also had six assists and two steals.

The W/L records are now wiped clean as the Spartans begin preparations for the AMC Quarterfinals. MBU and CBC split the regular season series with each team winning at home. Tip time in Conway is scheduled for 7 pm on Wednesday.
