CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA – Steven Weathers paced the Spartans four placers Saturday with an individual title at the Coe College Invite.
In Weathers' first competition of the 2021-22 season, he did not disappoint. The senior from Highland Park, Illinois put together a perfect 4-0 record including a 43 second pin in the first round and a major decision victory in the semifinals.
MBU saw a pair of forth place finishers in
Austin Smith and
Dillon Witt. Smith put together a 4-2 record picking up multiple bonus point victories with two first period falls and a tech fall. Witt picked up a pair of victories to put himself into the consolation finals before medical forfeiting out of the tournament.
Other Spartans to pick up victories included
E.T Rodgers Jr. who went 1-2 on the day with his lone win by fall, and
Trentin Helton who finished 8
th with his lone victory coming via fall against teammate
Zachary Achterberg.
Achterberg and
Michael Fanz failed to pick up any victories but hung tough against some quality opponents.
Your Missouri Baptist men's wrestling team won't compete again until December 10
th where they will host both Hannibal-LaGrange University and Lincoln College at the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC. This event is set to begin at 7:00 PM.
