SPARTANS UPSET (2) PARK UNIVERSITY WITH SWEEP

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Missouri Baptist men's volleyball picked up their first ranked win of the season on Wednesday night with an upset sweep of (2) Park University. The Spartans hit a collective .376 with 42 kills and 38 assists on their way to the three-set victory over the Pirates.

The win gave them their third consecutive win, moving their record to 8-2 overall and 6-2 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference.

After dropping the first two points of set one, the Spartans rebounded with nine of the next 13 points to take a 9-6 lead. Park tied it at 13 on two
kills and an MBU attack error.

A few points later, Miljan Kastratovic broke a 15-15 deadlock on a kill followed by his first of two service aces. It would be all the separation the Spartans needed. Up 22-19, four Park errors did them in 25-21 in the first set.

Set two was a battle and the two teams found themselves in a 16-16 tie midway through. Four straight points by the visitors put them in the driver seat at 20-16.

Daniel Borsi came through with a kill that put Stephen Menzel on the service line. Menzel proceeded to drop in two service aces to pull his team within one.

Down 22-21, the Spartans buckled down and rallied to a set two win on a pair of kills and a pair of Park attacking errors to put their conference rivals on the ropes.

The home team continued the momentum into the third set, rallying for four straight points to give them an early 8-4 lead. The Pirates rallied back with four points of their own to tie it.

Wanting to put Park to bed early, the Spartan offense came alive with 12 kills and a service ace to take set three with a 25-17 final. MBU posted 18 total kills and a .516 hitting percentage in the final frame to hand Park their first loss of the season.

Junior outside hitter Miljan Kastratovic came through for his team today with 16 kills, a .419 hitting percentage, three digs, and two aces. Jason Harman continued to collected assists at a torrid pace, posting 34 against Park. Other notable stats include Auston Bonte's 10 kills, Daniel Borsi's nine digs, and Stephen Menzel's three aces.

Next up on the schedule is a home match against Lincoln College on February 16 in the Petty Sports and Recreation Complex. The opening serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
