DES MOINES, IOWA – The Spartans were defeated in three sets by the top-ranked Grand View University Vikings on Friday evening. Missouri Baptist's record dropped to 10-3 overall and 8-3 in the conference after losing their second and final regular-season matchup to their Heart of America Athletic Conference rival.
 
MBU fell behind early but battled their way back from a 14-9 deficit to draw within one. The Vikings went on another scoring run to put the Spartans in a four-point hole late.
 
The visitors, down 23-19, battled their way back to make it 24-22 but ultimately fell 25-22 in set one.
 
Grand View's offense was too much for the Spartans to handle the rest of the match. The Spartans would only muster 20 points in the second set and 18 in the third to fall in sweep fashion.
 
The Vikings hit .346 with 40 kills, and four aces compared to Missouri Baptist's .139 hitting percentage, 27 kills, and two service aces.
 
Miljan Kastratovic posted another solid night collecting 10 kills and a service ace as did Jason Harman with 19 assists and seven digs.
 
The Spartans play their third consecutive game on the Iowa trip on Saturday afternoon against William Penn University. The opening serve is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
