MARKOVIC DOMINATES, SPARTANS BEAT EUTECTICS IN THREE

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The Spartans made their way down I-64 on Tuesday night and took a 3-0 victory over the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy. The sweep gave Missouri Baptist their 10th win in the conference and improved their record to 12-3 on the season.

The Spartans made quick work of the Eutectics in set one thanks to a 7-1 scoring run that propelled them to a 17-7 lead. MBU allowed just five more points on their way to a 25-12 set one victory.

UHSP showed some life in the second set. Tied at seven, the home team posted three of the next four points to take a 10-8 lead. The Spartans rallied and the back and forth affair led to a deadlocked score at 24 late in the frame.

A kill from freshman Michael Olson put his team ahead followed by an MBU service error that tied it back up. Another kill from Olson put the Spartans ahead 26-25. Milos Markovic, in the middle of a career night, finished off the Eutectics with a kill off an assist from Will Merzweiler.

An 8-0 scoring run early in set three buried UHSP as the Spartans went on to take the set with a 25-13 final and the match in sweep fashion.

Milos Markovic lit the world on fire on Tuesday night with a .938 attacking percentage, collecting 15 kills on 16 tries. He also collected three service aces and three digs.

"Milos was the man tonight," said Head Coach Tom Young. "He did a great job attacking, serving, and passing. Above all, he brought great energy the entire match."

The reigning conference setter of the week, Jason Harman, continued his hot play with 28 assists, a service ace, four digs, and three blocks (two solos). Other notable stats include Michael Olson's nine kills and Matt Pike's five digs.

Next up for Missouri Baptist is (RV) Ottawa University. The Braves come to town for a pair of weekend matchups with one on Friday at 7 p.m. and the other on Saturday at noon.
