COLUMBIA, Mo. – MBU Women's Soccer (7-5, 7-2 AMC) polished off the regular season on Saturday with a 1-0 victory on the road at Stephens (2-9, 2-7 AMC). The Spartans will be the 3-seed in the AMC Tournament and will take on the 6-seed Central Baptist next Friday, April 5 at Spartan Field.
 
The Spartans were in control from the start but the finishing product was lacking in the first half. The shot count was a lopsided 12-2 in their favor in the opening 45.
 
The breakthrough finally came in the 56^th minute. Mara George played Gianna Gore into space and the sophomore outmuscled a Stephens defender to create the chance. Gore's shot from the left side of the penalty area whistled into the top corner past Stars' goalkeeper Cordellia Dallam. It was the first goal of the season for the Union, Mo. native.
 
The final half hour played out with no issue. The final shots on goal tally favored MBU at 15-1.
