Box Score BELLEVILLE, Ill. – MBU Men's Tennis (1-3) earned its first victory of 2021 with a 4-3 result over John Brown University (Ark.) (3-7) on Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans and Eagles split two doubles matches with MBU coming out ahead in the No. 2 spot.
Patrick Szymczak and
Filip Petrovic defeated Woody Woodring and Logan Wheeler 6-3. John Brown earned a win by default in the No. 3 position so the Spartans needed a majority victory in the singles.
Szymczak took care of business at No. 3 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win.
Dragan Omcikus' 6-4. 7-5 victory at No. 2 put another point on the board and it all came down to the No. 1 spot.
Milos Vuckovic and Hudson Dick needed a tiebreak set which Vuckovic dominated 10-2 to give the Spartans the win.

The Spartans will stay in town to take on Saint Louis University on Tuesday. It will be the first of three matches in the final week of the regular season.
