ST. LOUIS, MO. – Missouri Baptist softball dropped a pair of conference matchups to Columbia College on Monday, ending their winning streak at seven games. The Cougar pitching staff was too much for the Spartan hitters to handle, scoring just one run across 14 innings of play.
Â
Reigning AMC Pitcher of the Week,
Shelby Sievers rolled through the first inning with relative ease but hit trouble in the next couple of innings. The visitors posted three in the second, one in the third, and two in the fourth to take a 6-0 lead.
Â
Allison Pingel continued to swing a hot bat in the bottom of the fourth with a single to center with one out. A Skyler Ruiz single and a sacrifice fly from
Cami Meddows brought her around for their first and only run of the game.
Â
Cougar starter Lexi Dickerson shut things down from there earning the 6-1 victory.
Â
The second game did not go any better for MBU. Sievers and
Kaitlyn Chadwick collected the only two hits in the 5-0 loss.
Â
Softball wrapped up their home schedule on Monday but still has four road contests to go. They take on Williams Baptist in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas on Friday followed by another doubleheader against (20) Central Baptist College in Conway, Arkansas on Saturday.
