DES MOINES, IOWA — The Missouri Baptist men's volleyball season came to a close on Wednesday afternoon after getting swept by Lourdes (Ohio) and going 0-2 in pool play. The Spartans wrap up another winning season with an 18-8 overall record, two NVA/AVCA All-America Honorable Mentions, and yet another trip to the NAIA National Championship tournament.
Lourdes, coming into the tournament as the seven seed, did a nice job of stifling the MBU offense allowing them to hit just .063 collecting six blocks and 34 digs. The Spartans had just two players finish with more than five kills and one who had an attack percentage of over .300.Â
The men were defeated in three sets at 25-20, 25-12, and 25-17 to end their 10th consecutive winning season and their national championship title run.Â
Miljan Kastratovic paced the team in kills (11) and digs (8) while
Drew Iliff was right behind him with seven kills. Other notable stats include
Jason Harman's 26 assists and
Kyle Merzweiler's two block assists.Â
