ST. LOUIS – MBU Women's Basketball was boat raced by the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy (12-6, 4-2 AMC) (UHSP) 71-50 on Thursday night. The Spartans are now 3-3 in the AMC, 6-10 overall.
After scoring the first two points of the game, MBU fell victim to the Eutectics' red-hot shooting from 3PT range. UHSP made 5-8 attempts from deep in the first quarter. They led 23-12 after 10 minutes.
The Spartans keyed in on stopping sophomore guard Grace Beyer, the NAIA's leading scorer, and succeeded for the most part. But the supporting cast for the Eutectics was up to the task. Elizabeth Allanach and Samantha Matthews combined for 37 points. The pair went 10-15 from three-point range. Beyer, though she came up well short of her season average (33.1), still led UHSP with 24 points.
The play improved slightly for the Spartans in the third and fourth quarter but the UHSP lead still grew. After taking a 39-21 advantage into the intermission, the Eutectics led by 19 after three and 21 at the final buzzer.
Tionne Taylor's 16 points led Missouri Baptist.
Alexis Allstun finished with nine points on 3-3 FG and 3-4 FT.
The Spartans are back home at the Petty SRC on Saturday afternoon at 1 pm vs. Central Baptist College.
