O'FALLON, ILL. – Men's tennis fell on the road Friday night against McKendree University.
 
MBU split the contested doubles matches dropping the No. 1 doubles match 6-7 and taking the No. 2 doubles match 6-3. Spartan duo Filip Petrovic and Timofey Tokmakov gave the Spartans a chance at earning a team point with their 6-3 victory in the No. 2 doubles match.  No. 1 doubles teammates Milos Vuckovic and Dragan Omcikus battled all the way until the last few points coming up just shy of earning MBU the team point. McKendree received the default victory at No. 3 doubles earning them the 1-0 lead going into the singles matches.
 
Vuckovic took Leo Frederico to the third set during the No. 1 singles match. Vuckovic lost the first set 2-6, and took the second 6-4, but ultimately fell 6-10 in the third and final set. During the No. 2 singles match Omcikus all but won a very tightly contested first set falling 6-7 against Subash Paramisan. Omcikus lost 1-6 in the second set, losing him the match. Petrovic took the first set of the No. 4 doubles match 6-3 before he fell in a highly competitive second set 5-7. Nanase Ibisu used that momentum to put away the Spartan 10-3 in the third and final set. McKendree University claimed the victory 7-0 over the Spartans.
 
Although MoBap failed to register a victory during the singles matches, Coach Scott Goodyear was proud of his team's performance and stated, "we hung right with McKendree, and we were really close to taking a few matches today".
