CAMPBELL, SCOTT LEAD MBU TO 12-8 WIN AT CLARKE

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Unfazed by an early deficit, Missouri Baptist Men's Lacrosse turned the tide for the better with a four-goal second period to defeat Clarke University on the road, 12-8. The Spartans trailed 2-0 to begin the game but notched five unanswered goals and never trailed thereafter.

With two straight wins, Missouri Baptist is back to .500 at 2-2 overall, while sporting a perfect 2-0 record in the KCAC.

MBU attackmen Noah Campbell and Alex Scott wreaked havoc on the offensive end of the field accounting for 10 of the Spartans' 12 goals. The duo was very choosy with their shot selection, and it showed in terms of efficiency. On 14 shot attempts, Campbell and Scott put 11 on target and 10 in the back of the net.

Scott helped dig Missouri Baptist out of the hole with the team's first two goals. He then reached hat trick status less than four minutes into the second quarter.

The first goal scored by someone other than Scott or Campbell was credited to freshman Matthew Lash with 4:49 remaining in the half. Outscoring Clarke 4-1 in the second stanza, the Spartans took a 6-3 lead into halftime.

With back-to-back goals in the middle of the third, Clarke narrowed MBU's margin to two. That would be the closest the Pride would get as the Spartans had an answer each time Clarke appeared to be closing in.

MoBap controlled the faceoff battle on Thursday winning 72% of the faceoffs. Faceoff specialist Connor Hickman went 14-of-20 on the evening.

Senior Noah Campbell led all scorers with 7 points (5 G, 2 A). Six other Spartans recorded at least one goal or one assist.

MBU will face its toughest test yet on Saturday when it visits undefeated and No. 3-ranked St. Ambrose (5-0, 2-0 KCAC). Game time is set for 5 p.m.
