OKLAHOMA CITY – Earlier this season, Missouri Baptist University STUNT picked up its first win in program history, but on Saturday morning, the Spartans logged their second and biggest victory yet. On Oklahoma City University's home court, Missouri Baptist defeated the Stars by a score of 13-11.
"These ladies started the game off strong, and fought until the very end," said MBU head STUNT coach
Allie Henshaw. "I am extremely proud of them, and we're HUNGRY for our games at Maryville [University] next weekend!"
The Spartans' win over the NAIA Cheer powerhouse represented the team's first win in the Mid America Division which includes MBU, OCU and Maryville. Mo Bap continues to display its potential and growth considering the Spartans scored just two points to Oklahoma City's 56 in three contests during MBU's inaugural season in 2021.
Immediately following the win, MBU once again improved its previous results against a familiar foe. After opening up the year with a 10-point loss to University of Texas-Tyler, the Spartans put up eight points in a 15-8 loss to the Patriots.
On Friday, MBU fell to 2021 NAIA STUNT Invitational champion Vanguard University (Calif.), 20-0, and registered six points in the last two quarters of a 19-6 loss to William Jessup University (Calif.). On the weekend, Missouri Baptist totaled 27 points across four games.
Next weekend, the Spartans will see both Mid America Division opponents on Maryville's campus: Oklahoma City at 12 p.m. and Maryville at 4 p.m.
