Despite the 41-17 final score in favor of Baker much of the game was tightly contested as the Spartans played well in all facets of the game.
Early in the contest both offenses displayed their strength with the first quarter ended with the score knotted at seven apiece.
The Spartans scored on a rushing touchdown with Darius Morrison storming into the endzone from 12-yards out that was set up by a 41-yard catch and run from Gavin Claud.
The tie did not last long into the second quarter as Baker's first play of the new quarter was a 49-yard touchdown pass to make it 14-7.
In search of a response to the quick touchdown MBU rapidly got up the field with a 69-yard pass from Cooper Brown to Kameron Sloan, but they were unable to get in the endzone and settled for a 40-yard field goal from Jonah Cox to bring MoBap within four points.
Baker tacked on a field goal with their next drive as they went 58-yards on 13 plays making it 17-10.
After the field goal the Spartans went three and out giving Baker another possession before halftime and the Wildcats struck quickly with a 72-yard touchdown run to go up by two scores before the break.
The third quarter was a quiet one with the only scoring coming from a field goal for Baker, but that changed almost immediately as the fourth quarter got underway.
MBU took their opening drive of the fourth quarter 75-yards on eight plays and capped it off with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Brown to Sloan to bring them within just 10 of Baker.
Unfortunately for the Spartans, that was all the scoring they would do in the final frame, but Baker was able to tack on two more touchdowns before the final buzzer to pin a 41-17 loss on the Spartans.
The turnover bug bit the Spartans throughout the day as Baker came away with five interceptions in the contest.
Brown finished the day with 224 passing yards with 108 to Claud and 90 to Sloan.
Blake Kight had a stellar day on the defensive end racking up 18 total tackles, two for a loss, one sack, and a pass break up.
Rakweon Ramsey and Giovanoi Sanes both had two sacks as well.
Next week the Spartans will be back on the gridiron on the road at MidAmerica Nazarene with a 1:00 pm kickoff.
