UNIVERSITY PARK, ILL. - MBU and Indiana University East went back and forth for the first half of the contest, but in the fourth quarter the Red Wolves pulled away and topped the Spartans 78-70.
Within the first five minutes of the game the Spartans fell behind 10-4, but before the end of the frame they fought back and tied the game at 14 apiece.
The Red Wolves gained another six point lead in the second quarter, but once again MoBap rallied back.
Prior to the final whistle of the half T'Laizha Morris pulled down an offensive rebound and Nyah Ford was sent to the free throw line where she made both and gave MBU a three point lead at the halftime break 35-32.
Sophia Horton had an 11 point second quarter as she led the Spartans in scoring in the first half, trailed by Bryce Dowell and Ford both with seven.
The third quarter was similar to the first two, but MBU was gaining lead and the Red Wolves were fighting back and the two foes went into the final frame with the Spartans holding a 56-52 lead.
In the final three minutes of the contest the Red Wolves outpaced MoBap 13-4 leading to their 78-70 win over the Spartans.
Horton finished the game with 20 points and five rebounds leading MBU offensively.
Dowell also tallied 16 points for the Spartans.
Amar Mansour did a little bit of everything throughout the game as she had eight points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
MBU will return to the court tomorrow at 1:00 pm at the GSU Winter Classic to take on Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
