MBU FALLS BEHIND IN MATCH AGAINST MISSOURI VALLEY

Marshal, Mo – Missouri Baptist Men's Lacrosse (No. 3, KCAC) stayed consistent through their non-conference match with No. 6 Heart of America Conference Missouri Valley College. The team put up one point per quarter but fell to the Vikings 10-4.

The two teams struggled keeping possession in the first quarter. Ryan Hicks took the first shot of the game I the 13th minute but, unfortunately it was wide. First-year student Drew Chodini, put up the first point for the Spartans in the 13th minute assisted by attacker Brock Pleis. Chodini, from Wentzville Mo. Goalkeeper Ashton Scott saved all three shot attempts and kept MVC off of the score board. The quarter resulted in 1-0 in favor of Missouri Baptist.

The second quarter started with two shots from MBU made by Chodini and returning senior Dante Wands. Both shots where we're saved by Moval goalkeeper Jake Lipscomb. The Vikings went on to score three in the second, ninth and 10 minute. Sophomore attacker Caleb Tant set up senior Guiseppe Migliazzo (St. Peters, Mo.) to add one more goal to the Spartans board in the last 20 seconds of the quarter. This was Migliazzo's first career goal as a Spartan. No further scoring happened keeping the second quarter a 3-2 game.

At the half Missouri Valley gained possession and put their team up by several points. It wasn't until the last minute of the quarter that Ryan Hicks added a third goal for the Spartans off an assist from yet again Caleb Tant (Sophomore, Grayson, Ga.). This score wasn't enough to even out the playing field and ended in a 7-3 stretch for the Vikings.

Possession was traded back and forth in the final quarter, but MVC managed to score in the 15th and 12th minute adding to their advantage. Dylan Forbeck, a freshman from Bradshaw Christian HS, found himself with a scoring opportunity at the 6:26 minute marker and the his efforts paid off. Although, this was not enough to put the Spartans ahead. The Vikings scored the last goal that put the final score 10-3.

Chodini, Migliazzo, Hicks, and Forbeck scored points for the Spartans, Tant put up two assists and Pleis put up one. Junior goalie Ashton Scott made a total of eight saves to the Vikings 13.
