Spartans Unable to Halt Cougar Scoring

Columbia, Mo.- Missouri Baptist University Men's Lacrosse (no. 3, KCAC) faced (RV) Columbia College (Mo.) in their final away match this past Monday and fell behind 13-5. The Spartans are now 2-8 overall on their regular season and 1-2 in their conference.
 
MBU was unable to connect any goals in the first quarter and the Cougars only allowed for two shots to Columbia 16. Missouri Baptist goalkeeper Ashton Scott lead 5-1 saves. CC managed to send six into the back of the net ending the quarter 6-0.
 
In to the second quarter the Spartans found four goals of their own conquering Columbia College. Sr. Dante Wands and Fr. Drew Chiodini brought MBU closer to evening out scoring but it wasn't enough for the Spartans to take a lead. MBU halted Columbia's scoring ending the second period 6-2.
 
After the half, the Spartans continued their goal streak by one more from midfielder Drew Chiodini. The Timberland HS graduate scored two back-to-back goals for Missouri Baptist while also bringing his personal career goal count to five. Ryan Hicks, an attacker from Fulsom, Calif. was the second to score in the final three minutes of the third.
 
Columbia carries the game 8-4 and only allowed one final scoring opportunity for the Spartans in the 14th minute. The Cougars went to score five of their own ending the final 13-5.
 
Missouri Baptist ends their regular season at home in a conference game against Midland University on Friday April 14th. Men's Lacrosse will follow MBU Woman's Lacrosse (4:00 PM) and play at 7:00 PM.
