Spartans Fall Flat at (RV) Campbellsville

Campbellsville, Ky. – Not much went right for the Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer squad at Campbellsville University on Saturday evening. The Tigers dominated in almost every statistical category in scoring a 5-0 victory over the Spartans.

Campbellsville got on the board twice in the first half with goals in the twenty-fifth and forty-second minute. They added three more after the break in the sixty-sixth, the seventy-fifth, and a late goal in the eighty-seventh minute for the final score of 5-0.

It appeared the Spartans may have scored with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game, but the first referee instead ruled that a foul had a occurred just before the final pass and awarded MoBap a free kick rather than allowing the play-on and the goal. In the ensuing discussion the Spartans bench received a red card.

On the night Campbellsville outshot the Spartans 20 to six, and outpaced them eight to three on shots on goal.

The loss is the fifth in a row for MBU as they have now faced teams who are nationally ranked or receiving votes in three of those last five games.

MBU will be home to host yet another nationally ranked team on Tuesday. The opponent will be (16) Cumberland University. The Phoenix and the Spartans will kick it off at 1:00 p.m.
