ATCHISON, KAN. - On the road taking on the #8 Benedictine Ravens the Spartans fell behind early and never recovered in the 48-14 loss.
The Ravens took care of business on their first two possessions of the game as they marched down the field and punched the ball into the endzone to gain a 14-0 lead over the Spartans.
MBU was looking to answer the pair of Ravens' scores as their next drive went 11 plays 72 yards before stalling out with a 40-yard field goal attempt that was blocked by the Ravens.
Benedictine tacked on two more touchdowns and a field goal before the first half was over to make it 31-0 heading into the locker rooms for halftime.
The third quarter showcased all of the Spartans' scoring as they found paydirt twice. Lionel Banks capped off a 73-yard drive as he crossed the goalline, and a 21-yard pass from Jordan Simpson to Shane Becker gave MBU their second touchdown of the afternoon.
Benedictine's offense continued to find success in the second half as they went on to beat the Spartans by a score of 48-14.
Simpson threw the ball for just over 250 yards and one touchdown on the day with Joseph White hauling in seven receptions for 106 yards.
Dabrein Moss led the defense in tackles as he made 12 total with seven on his own. Kaden Lutjen-Williams also came away with an interception for the only Spartan takeaway.
The loss brings the Spartans to 4-2 (2-1 Heart South), and they will return home for next week's Homecoming night game that is set to kickoff at 7:00 PM at Spartan Field against #14 MidAmerica Nazarene.
