ST. LOUIS - Following Lee Levington III being named Heart of America Defensive Player of the Week he took home NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week with his performance in the win over Graceland.
Â
Levingston put a halt on the Yellowjackets' final drive once they got to the goal line with a 100-yard pick six to put the Spartans up by 12 with just over a minute left in the contest.
Â
The sophomore has two interceptions on the season along with four pass break ups and 22 total tackles.
Â
Levingston has been a key piece to the Spartans defense throughout the season in a group of defensive backs that keeps receivers in front of them, not allowing many big plays.Â
Â
He is the first Spartan in program history to receive NAIA National Player of the Week honors, and has helped lead Missouri Baptist to their first ever six win season.
Â
The Spartans will be back in action this Saturday when they take on the Baker Wildcats on the road at 1:00 PM.
