ST. LOUIS – First-seeded Missouri Baptist University swept eighth-seeded Central Baptist College in the American Midwest Conference Quarterfinals on Tuesday night. The Spartans move into the AMC Semifinals against fourth-seeded William Woods University on Friday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m., in the Carl & Deloris Petty Sports & Recreation Complex.

The Mustangs kept it close early in set one when
Kassie Lee notched a pair of kills before
Madison Moore's first kill of the night. Setter
Maiana Coelho continued to spread the wealth with
Kirsten van der Vleuten,
Gabi Jakubowska, and
Fernanda Perini extending the lead out to 13-8. Jakubowska would end the first frame with eight kills and Lee had six to lead a 25-12 win and a game-high .457 hitting percentage.
The Spartan attack continued to be relentless in the second set, earning a 25-13 win and a 2-0 lead behind 12 more kills and five service aces. Jakubowska had five more kills and Coelho had 11 assists to bring her total to 29.
In the third set, the Spartans ran out to a 12-3 lead and ended the sweep 25-10 on a service ace from Luiza Arufi and a kill from Perini. MBU hit .448 with 16 kills on 29 attacks in the third to send them to an AMC Semifinals match against William Woods.
