FULTON, Mo. - Missouri Baptist men's wrestling claimed the first road dual victory of the season over American Midwest Conference opponent William Woods University (Mo.) in dominant fashion 44-9.
The Spartans won eight of the ten bouts of the evening, all of which were bonus-point victories. The night started at 141, where
Daryl Mills won by technical fall, and
Brandon Bollinger followed up with a technical fall of his own 19-3. Both wins put the Spartans up early 10-0.
The Owls fought back as they claimed their two sole night victories at 157 and 165.
The Spartans dominated after the 165 bouts, as they rattled off six wins, one after another. At 174,
Joel Campbell, ranked 14th at 174, showed why he was a top 15 wrestler in the country by claiming at 15-5 major decision.
Nicholas Keim claimed a forfeit at 184 to put the Spartans up 20-9 after six bouts.
The Missouri Baptist upper weights wanted to show out as
Blake Johnson and
Jared Volcic picked up two falls at 197 and 285.
John Davis received a forfeit at 125, and
Dillon Witt capped the night off with his 70-second pin.
The Spartans hit the road again this weekend. They will head to Marietta, Ga., to wrestle in the Life U Open, which is hosted by Life University. Wrestling starts at 8:00 a.m.
