LITTLE ROCK, ARK. - After halftime the two foes were knotted at 28 apiece, and the Panthers outscored Missouri Baptist by seven in the third quarter and held onto their lead throughout the remainder of the contest to beat the Spartans 56-49.

Kayleigh Winch led the squad with 20 points in the contest as she went six for nine from the field and knocked down eight free throws, and pulled down seven rebounds.

MBU shot 39.1% from the field in the first half and 37.5% from beyond the arc on their way to 28 first half points. 

The second half was low scoring for both sides as the Spartans shot just over 20%. Philander Smith held an advantage over the Spartans on the inside throughout the contest as they had 36 points in the paint to Missouri Baptist's 18.

The Panthers outscored the Spartans 16-9 in the third quarter, and were able to hold on to their lead in the fourth as each team scored 12 in the fourth to give Philander Smith their 56-49 victory.
