ST. LOUIS - Following a come from behind victory at home on Senior Day the Spartans will be back in action later today (Nov. 9) at Graceland to take on the Yellow Jackets.
Last week Missouri Baptist University reached a program high five wins in a season, and they look to build upon that in Lamoni, Iowa, when they hit the field at 1 p.m., against Graceland.
This will mark the first contest between these Heart of America inter-division foes.
The Yellow Jackets are 7-2 with a 5-0 Heart North record, sitting at no. 1 in the Heart North standings. Missouri Baptist is 5-3 with a 3-2 Heart South record.
Of the common opponents, Graceland lost on the road at Missouri Valley in the early season, and the Spartans won on Senior Day last week when they hosted Missouri Valley. Both teams have also lost to now No. 11 Benedictine.
Graceland's high-powered offense comes into the game averaging over 500 yards of total offense per game, and their defense allows just 332. The Yellowjackets have thrown for 37 touchdowns on the campaign, but have also been bitten by the turnover bug as they have thrown 14 interceptions.
The Spartans will need to take care of the ball today and limit the Yellow Jackets passing game, but a strong piece of the MBU defense has been their secondary. The defensive backs have done a stellar job throughout the season limiting big plays and keeping receivers in front of them.
Missouri Baptist's front seven has also been tremendous, and continues to be. Last week, Billy Hall had an outstanding game as he was flying all over the field making tackles. Dabrein Moss has been consistent for the Spartans, going sideline to sideline leading the Spartan defense in tackles.
