STUNT Starts Season Strong, Goes 2-0 in Ohio

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – Missouri Baptist University STUNT opened its 2024 campaign in Ohio this past weekend in a quad meet with Muskingum University, The University of Olivet, and Heidelberg University. The Spartans came away with two resounding victories, dominating host Muskingum, 22-0, and Olivet, 19-1.

Ranked No. 4 among NAIA STUNT programs, MoBap entered the weekend riddled by injuries, but this didn't stop them from shining as they competed with 19 players, seven of which are rookies.

In the season opener against Muskingum University, the Spartans didn't surrender a point to the Fighting Muskies. Senior Sophia Welch and freshman London Joy both competed in every routine and contributed with a team-leading 52 points each. Following shortly behind Welch and Joy was junior Grace Ketterer, who notched 48 points of her own. They took a strategic focus to this weekend, working on routines 1-4 as they wait for more athletes to return from injury.

The second game was just as dominant for MBU as it finished with a 19-1 victory over The University of Olivet, the longest running program at the meet. Welch and Joy led the charge again this match, putting up 43 points each, again with Ketterer right behind with 39.

STUNT's next competition will be a haul out to Phoenix, Ariz., a tournament at Arizona Christian University. They compete over three days from March 1-3.
