MBU Makes Impressive 4th Quarter Comeback, But Falls Just Short to (RV) OU

Being the underdogs, Missouri Baptist University's men's lacrosse team put up a tough fight against (RV) Ottawa University in a 10-6 game.
In the first quarter, OU scored three unanswered goals. With one minute and thirty-nine seconds left in the first, Dylan Forbeck was able to get MBU on the scoreboard, giving the Spartans a fighting chance.
Despite the last minute goal, Ottawa was fired up going into the second quarter, scoring four goals and leaving MBU scoreless.
Ottawa was simply able to obtain the most possession and tire out MoBap's defense. Goalkeeper Ashton Scott made five saves in both the first and second quarters. The Spartans were also only able to take five shots in second, while Ottawa took 14.
The third quarter played out in the same fashion. The Spartans remained scoreless despite the defense's best efforts. Throughout the match, senior leader Tanner Whittemore picked up one ground ball and caused an impressive four turnovers. Liam Prindable was able to cause a turnover as well. Captain Connor Hickman picked up one ground ball, caused two turnovers, and made an assist.
At the start of the fourth quarter the score was 10-1 OU. Drew Chiodini finally scored an unassisted goal with 12:23 left in the fourth.
With this goal, the Spartans found momentum across the board:

The face off wins can be accredited to freshman Alex Reyes.
The Spartans kept OU scoreless after Chiodini's goal. Brock Pleis scored a goal assisted by Reece Dotterer. Joe Busselman followed with a goal of his own. Pleis picked up his second goal of the day with 7:22 left in the game off an assist from Chiodini. The last goal of the match came from Nolan Portell off an assist from Hickman.
The energy in the fourth quarter was electric despite the final score.
The Spartans will play again at Midland University on Friday (March 29) at 3:00 PM.
