ST. LOUIS - Following a tough loss in the season opener the Spartans will host the Clarke Pride with hopes to get in the win column on Saturday.
MBU leads the all time battle against the Pride as they have only played each other once and the Spartans came away with a 31-13 victory. A strong fourth quarter in which MoBap tallied three touchdowns helped them come away with a win. Missouri Baptist dominated the ground game as they finished with 326 rushing yards.
Despite being 0-1 the Spartans showed promise throughout the week one matchup with Cumberland. Just a handful of plays plagued Missouri Baptist last Saturday leading to a few scores from the Phoenix. The Spartans threw for over 200 yards and rushed for 164 with two touchdowns.
Clarke is also coming off of a loss as they took on Midland on the road and fell by a score of 45-7. The Pride were unable to get much going as they only chalked up 157 yards of total offense. The wide receiver core for the Pride spread the love as eight different receivers all had one reception in the contest.
The Spartans will look to pick up their first win of the season in week 2 this Saturday at Spartan Field at 1:00 P.M.
