Horton and Winch Finish With Double-Digit Points in Road Victory at Hannibal-LaGrange

HANNIBAL, MO. - On the road at American Midwest Conference opponent Hannibal-LaGrange University, Missouri Baptist University outpaced the Trojans in three of the four quarters as they brought home a 57-38 victory.

The Spartans faced a little adversity early in the contest as they fell behind by four points in the early portions of the first frame, but they battled back and tied the score at 12 before the second quarter. Kayleigh Winch started her terrific day with five points, two rebounds, and two blocks in the first 10 minutes of action.

Missouri Baptist came out in the second quarter and built a five-point lead they held over the Trojans throughout the remainder of the half as the two conference foes went into the break with the Spartans up 27-20.

After halftime, the Spartans and Trojans played a little back-and-forth basketball, but again Missouri Baptist was able to mount a run that resulted in extending their lead to 13 points heading into the final quarter of action.

The Spartans saw their largest lead of the afternoon in the fourth quarter with a 21-point advantage over Hannibal-LaGrange. Missouri Baptist kept their lead as they came away with a 57-38 victory over the Trojans, for their second win against them on the season.

Sophia Horton and Winch finished the contest leading the Spartans in scoring with 14 and 12, respectively. Winch finished a rebound shy of a double-double and three blocks. The bench played a crucial role for Missouri Baptist in the win as well. Chardonnay Jones, Jenna Plymale, Orian Anderson, and Aliyah Williams combined for nine steals and 18 points.
