ST. LOUIS – No. 17 Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball welcomes No. 25 MidAmerica Nazarene University for the conference game of the week and fourth-place Park University to end Heart of America Athletic Conference regular-season play this weekend.
The Spartans (24-5, 15-1 Heart) are still in contention for the Heart Regular Season Championship, needing a pair of wins over the Pioneers and Pirates along with some help from Graceland University, which hosts first-place Grand View University (26-3, 16-1 Heart) on Friday night.
MNU will be in the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC on Friday, Oct. 31, at 3 p.m., for the
Heart Game of the Week. Park will head to St. Louis for the Spartans' Senior Night opponent on Saturday, Nov. 1, after taking on William Woods University on Friday in Fulton, Mo.
Since losing to NCAA Division II opponent Maryville University on Oct. 2, MBU has rattled off nine consecutive victories behind a .251 percentage, 13.48 kills per set, 12.45 assists per set, and 7.1 blocks per game.
Gabi Jakubowska (3.65 K/S) and
Allana Capella (3.55 K/S) lead the Spartan attack,
Valentina Navarro has posted 10.58 assists per set, and
Fernanda Perini has averaged 1.32 blocks per set at the net in that span.
MidAmerica enters Friday's match in third place in the Heart with a 14-2 record and a 20-5 overall record. They recently had an 11-game winning streak snapped by Park University in a five-set home match on Oct. 28. One of those wins was a sweep of first-place Grand View, handing the Vikings their only loss in conference play.
Park enters this week as winners in six of their last seven, including the five-set victory over the Pioneers in Olathe, Kan. They are fourth in the Heart standings at 12-4 and sit 16-7 overall.
Saturday will serve as MBU's Senior Night, with festivities planned 20 minutes before the 7 p.m., opening serve.
