ST. LOUIS – No. 17 Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball begins a five-match homestand starting with a pair this week on Tuesday, Oct. 7, against Culver-Stockton College, and Friday, Oct. 10, against William Woods University.
The Spartans went 1-1 last week, rebounding from a three-set loss at Maryville University on Oct. 1 with a sweep at Missouri Valley College on Oct. 3. The team is 17-5 overall and sits in second place in the Heart of America Athletic Conference standings with an 8-1 record.
As a team, the Spartans are hitting .262 with 13.1 kills per set, 12.3 assists per set, and 2.2 aces per set. They are holding their opponents to a .155 hitting percentage behind 2.1 blocks per set and 12.5 digs per set defensively.
Culver-Stockton enters Tuesday's match-up at 6-13 overall and 2-8 in the Heart. They have lost four matches in a row, with their last win coming on Saturday, Sept. 20, in a five-set road win at Clarke University.
William Woods is currently 15-5 overall and 7-3 in conference play heading into a non-conference match at Stephens College on Thursday, Oct. 9. The Owls have won their last two contests against Culver-Stockton and Central Methodist University, but lost in five sets at Missouri Valley on Friday, Sept. 26.
