OLATHE, Kan. – The Missouri Baptist University men's soccer team fell 5–1 to No. 2 MidAmerica Nazarene on Saturday afternoon at Pioneer Field in its final regular-season matchup of the 2025 season.
The Pioneers wasted no time getting on the board, scoring the first goal just 1:25 into the match. MidAmerica Nazarene added another in the 11th minute to take a 2–0 lead, but the Spartans held strong for the remainder of the first half.
Freshman Adel Smajlovic scored the lone goal for the Spartans, converting a penalty kick in the 61st minute to cut the deficit to 2–1. The goal marked his fifth of the season.
MidAmerica Nazarene, now 11–2–4 overall and 8–2–3 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play, added three more goals late in the second half to pull away from Missouri Baptist.
Goalkeeper Evan Baisch recorded two saves for MBU, facing seven shots on goal. The Spartans were out shot 22–7 and held to one shot on target.
Despite the result, Missouri Baptist earned three corner kicks and was whistled for only five fouls compared to MidAmerica Nazarene's 19.
The match concludes the 2025 campaign for the Spartans, who finish the season with an overall record of 5–9–3 and 4–7–2 in HEART conference play.
