ST. LOUIS – Second-seeded Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball will host the No. 3 seed MidAmerica Nazarene for the Heart of America Athletic Semifinals on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Carl & Deloris Petty SRC.
The Spartans enter the contest as winners of their last 12 matches. Their last loss came on Wednesday, Oct. 1, in a road defeat at NCAA Division II Maryville University. Over the 12 wins, 10 of them have been in the conference, including three wins over William Woods University and a sweep over No. 25 MidAmerica Nazarene.
In that span, they are hitting .262 with 13.67 kills per set, 12.69 assists per set, 2.71 aces per set, and 85 total blocks.
Gabi Jakubowska has led the attack with a .265 percentage, 4.24 kills per set, and 30 service aces. Behind her is
Allana Capella with 3.52 kills per set and a .261 percentage, while
Fernanda Perini has averaged 1.27 blocks per set.
MBU is coming off a Heart Quarterfinals victory over William Woods on Nov. 8, taking care of the Owls in straight sets (25-20, 25-21, 25-15). They hit .255 while holding WWU to .011, and finished off the sweep in the third set with 10 consecutive points.
MidAmerica Nazarene enters Tuesday after snapping a three-game skid with a Heart Quarterfinal win over Baker University (25-21, 30-32, 27-25, 25-10). They lost to Park University in five sets on Oct. 28, were selected at No. 25 in the Oct. 29 NAIA Top 25 Poll, and then fell in consecutive road sweeps to Missouri Baptist (Oct. 31) and William Woods (Nov. 1).
